This is the famous Key West Conch Train. It has been carting tourists around the island since the 1970's!
It passes by our cottage and I love waving at everyone on board!
This blog was originally started to track our progress as we regenerated a derelict Victorian house in Dublin. We turned an old crumbling ruin in to our dream house! If you wish to read through the trials and tribulations of the house build it is best to start at the oldest blog post and read in date order. The blog then evolved in to being all about my life in Dublin, Ireland and then life in Malaga, Spain with artist "PIGSY" and now back in Dublin I hope you enjoy reading it!

What a great NYE celebration we had last night!
We had a 9.30 dinner reservation at Salute the Beach. We arrived at about 9.15pm and they were able to seat us immediately. It was a set menu for the night that was in it. Looking out on to the beach we sat and sipped a glass of champagne - what an amazing setting. At 10pm, there was a firework display provided by the Southernmost Hotel. We had a birdseye view of the fireworks!
After dinner we moved to the bar to enjoy ambiance and listen to the live music. Come 11.30 or so we cycled home to ring in the New Year alone on our balcony which is what's have done for the past few years.
Here's to 2013, let's hope it's a good one!!!
This the giant conch shell that is featured in the movie "The Key West Picture Show". The Key West High School is now where it calls home.
We had two lovely dinners over the past nights. Two days ago we ate in the Flaming Buoy Fillet Co. Totally delicious and the owner was so friendly and hospitable.
Last night we had the famous Sunday Fried Chicken in Sarabeth's. We Will be dreaming about it for the next year. We followed our meal by meeting friend for a drink in the famous hidden bar the Chart Room Bar. We had fun!
Check out this giant bottle of Grey Goose! It's 1.75ml!!!
To combat a hangover I drink Coconut Water. Delish! ;-)
Check out this sweet bologna given to us by our friends from Lancaster, PA.
It is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. It's sweet and meaty!!!
What's not to like about it?!
Taking it very easy here in Key West. On our 2nd night we ate in Santiago's Bodega which was amazing. It is a tapas restaurant. Along with a half bottle of malbec we ate lots amazing dishes including beef tenderloin topped with blue cheese, puff pastry stuffed with mushrooms, cherry glazed ribs, dates wrapped in bacon as well as the most amazing wedge salad. I was stuffed and could only manage a taste of the rack of lamb that Ciaran ordered. So yum!!!
Then on our next night after the historic house tour we wanted something lighter so we went for sushi in Origami. Again so delicious and we had the best waitress who went through our order and scratched half of what we ordered because she said we ordered too much and we could order extra if it wasn't enough. She was right!
