We are starting to choose accessories for the bathroom. Ciaran saw this vanity in a local plumbing supply store on Saturday morning. It was exactly what we were looking for so he promptly bought it. This Vanity and Sink will go in the downstairs bathroom. He chose a different tap as he felt the one in the picture was too big.
This blog was originally started to track our progress as we regenerated a derelict Victorian house in Dublin. We turned an old crumbling ruin in to our dream house! If you wish to read through the trials and tribulations of the house build it is best to start at the oldest blog post and read in date order. The blog then evolved in to being all about my life in Dublin, Ireland and then life in Malaga, Spain with artist "PIGSY" and now back in Dublin I hope you enjoy reading it!

Look how it is progressing!!!
Bedroom 2:
Plasterboard sheeting has been put up after the first fix
Bedroom 1:
External walls insulated prior to plasterboard being put up.
The walls will then be taped and skimmed.
Some of the remains of the original paint colours!!!
Wall built up between Bedroom 2 and the landing
You can walk out this door from the bathroom on to
the roof of the kitchen (new extension)!
Today I was told more about the stairs up to the Studio. They will be made of glass and will be cantilevered off the wall. They sound amazing!!!! The stairs will be going in at the very end of the build - I can't wait!

I've been told that we are on the turn......
It is expected that first fix will start in the next week or two. Seemingly I'll begin to see a lot of changes and progress then!
But until then the place looks like this:

Sash windows!
The up and down sash windows are in, balanced and are fully working. Tomorrow they will be sealed and insulated on the inside. The shutter boxes will then be returned to where they were originally fitted.
Below is the window in the back bedroom.
This is the second bedroom window pictured again
from the inside of the house.
The sash windows are only going into the older part of the house. The new part of the house (the extension) will have powder coated treble-glazed aluminium windows in a dark grey colour.

It's progressing!
The flat roof on the new extension has been insulated.
Here you can see the waterproof membrane and the hidden gutter.
Ciaran pointing out a bow in the original wall. The wall will have to be taken down and rebuilt. This was not expected but sometimes issues are revealed as the layers are peeled back.

Sash Windows!
The Sash windows have been brought down on to site.
They will be fitted tomorrow. The box window frames will have to be rebuilt and then the windows will be installed. A specialist company will be fitting the windows and making them workable up and down sash windows using ropes and weights as balances.

Let there be light!
Today, Ciaran met with Lighting Consultant Patrick Kerr of Shadowlight to discuss the light switch arrangement. He also impulsively(!) bought 2 small Lenticchia lights by Peter Zumthor.
