This blog was originally started to track our progress as we regenerated a derelict Victorian house in Dublin. We turned an old crumbling ruin in to our dream house! If you wish to read through the trials and tribulations of the house build it is best to start at the oldest blog post and read in date order. The blog then evolved in to being all about my life in Dublin, Ireland and then life in Malaga, Spain with artist "PIGSY" and now back in Dublin I hope you enjoy reading it!

Sunday visit....
Today we visited the house before we went for dinner in my parents house.
I climbed out the above window to have a look at the hot tub in the garden - the door out to the garden is currently blocked by scaffolding.
You can get an idea of the scale of the window by the fact that I was comfortably able to climb out it!
Here I am trying out what will be the bench seat. It is very low to the ground, will probably fit about 8-10 people on it....... a perfect conversation pit!

Paint!
Paint has been delivered on to site
Red paint for the front door
(Ciaran having second thoughts about this colour.....!)
Where's the primer for the outside railings?
Studio
This is the current state of the studio. The room is practically finished. It has been insulated, weather proofed and battened out in preparation for the weathering steel to go on to the back of the door. The steel will sit flush with the cladding on the external walls and will give a seamless finish.
This room has a glass floor (with a white film between two layers of toughened glass) and a clear glass ceiling. The wall covering is birch plywood.
Shelving
Floating shelves are being made for the alcoves downstairs
Putting shelving in these small alcoves makes good use of dead space.

We are getting a kitchen!!!!
Yesterday the kitchen installation was started.
This picture shows the kitchen workspace. There is no kickboard in order to give cleaner lines. The kitchen is made of 2 materials sprayed black mdf and oak veneer panels.
The doors in the kitchen will open on an electrical power source. When you want to open a press door you push it and the electrical current charge goes through the door and it opens slowly without human assistance!
The counter top will be made of black river washed granite.
