Thirtysomething

Thirtysomething - did you watch it?
I loved this TV programme back in the late '80s.  Scary to think I am now "Thirtysomething". Eeek!
BTW, did you know that the actors who played Nancy and Michael are married?
I think Michael and Gary (how hot was he with his long blonde hair?!) were my favourite - who was your favourite?

I just saw recently that the actor who played Elliot is getting married to Melissa Gilbert of Little House on the Prairie fame, they seem like a really nice couple.

  1. All of them, and I can still recite all the characters names and who they were paired up with!

AND whistle the theme tune...gods I am sad...

It gets shown on UK gold sometimes, or More 4.
I liked Gary the very best. Elliott was just such a whiney brat - !

    2. Well I am 50 now so was a grown woman when I watched it on its first showings in 1987 ( I was 26) .

I don't know about Enie but, as she is a thirtysomething now, I guess she must have been very young when it was first shown (she must have been 5 or 6 when it was first on TV in the UK)

BUT they have been repeated a lot since they were first on TV - maybe she watched them as repeats when she was older?

    3. But they were so lovely and in such good taste ( no swear words then!) that, despite the sometime quite adult themes I would guess letting a 7 yr old watch it would have been ok - I certainly remember letting my DD watch it on Channel 4 repeats with me during the daytime when she was a littlee

  3. Hi compostwoman!
I think I must have been 11 or 12 when I first saw them. It was broadcast in the States from 1987 so I would say it was after 1988 when it was shown in Ireland.

My sister taped the UK Gold showings and we watched them together recently.

Elliot was a brat - perfect description for him. A total Messer. Such a Peter Pan I don't think he faced up to reality even when Nancy was sick.

    Thanks for replying!

  4. Yep Elliot was a brat!

But such fun. But not fun being married to him!!! Poor Nancy. And she also had the naughty Ethan to deal with as well.

I love the theme tune even now.
